Privacy Policy

Last Updated: October 6, 2025

Your Privacy Matters: Eagle Browser is designed with privacy in mind. We collect minimal data and keep your browsing activity local on your device.

This Privacy Policy explains how [COMPANY NAME] ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, stores, and protects your information when you use Eagle Browser (the "Software" or "Service"). By using Eagle Browser, you consent to the data practices described in this policy.

1. Introduction

We are committed to protecting your privacy and giving you control over your data. Eagle Browser follows a "local-first" approach, meaning most of your data stays on your device and is never transmitted to our servers.

This Privacy Policy should be read in conjunction with our Terms of Service.

2. Information We Collect

We collect very limited information, and only what is necessary to provide authentication services.

2.1 Account Information (Server-Stored)

  • Subscription Status: When paid plans are introduced, we will track your subscription end date

Important: We use secure hashing algorithms to protect your password. We never store or have access to your plain-text password.

  • Used to verify your identity
  • Stored locally on your device

You Control Your Local Data: All local data remains under your control. You can clear, export, or delete it at any time through Eagle Browser's settings.

5. Data Storage and Security

5.1 Server Location

Our authentication servers are hosted by DigitalOcean in San Francisco, California, USA. Only your minimal account information (username/email and hashed password) is stored on these servers.

5.2 Security Measures

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your account information:

We retain your account information (username/email and hashed password) for as long as your account is active. Currently, account deletion is not available. We retain this minimal information for:

  • Security purposes (preventing unauthorized access)
  • Fraud prevention
  • Compliance with legal obligations

If you have concerns about your account data, please contact us at [email protected].

6. Third-Party Services

We use limited third-party services to operate Eagle Browser. These services may have access to certain information:

6.1 Email Service Provider

We use Gmail to send password reset emails and important account notifications. When you request a password reset, your email address is shared with Gmail for delivery purposes only.

6.2 Hosting Provider

Our servers are hosted on DigitalOcean. DigitalOcean provides infrastructure but does not have access to your account credentials or browsing data.

6.3 Payment Processor (Future)

When we introduce paid subscription plans, we will use a third-party payment processor ([PAYMENT PROCESSOR]). The payment processor will handle:

  • Payment card information
  • Billing addresses
  • Transaction processing

We do NOT receive or store your payment card information. We only receive confirmation of successful payments and subscription status from the payment processor.

7.2 Extension Data Collection

Important: Extensions are third-party software developed by independent developers. Each extension has its own privacy policy and may collect data independently of Eagle Browser. We have no control over, and are not responsible for, extension data practices.

We recommend: Reviewing the privacy policy of each extension before installation.

7.3 Chrome Web Store

Eagle Browser modifies Chrome Web Store pages to add installation functionality. However:

  • We do not collect data about your Chrome Web Store visits
  • Your interactions with the Chrome Web Store are subject to Google's privacy policy
  • Eagle Browser is not affiliated with Google or Chrome

8. Anti-Fingerprinting Technology

Eagle Browser includes anti-fingerprinting features designed to protect your privacy by making it harder for websites to track you. However:

  • These features do not involve collecting or transmitting your data
  • All anti-fingerprinting operations happen locally on your device
  • We do not track the effectiveness of these features
  • No data about your fingerprint protection is sent to us

9. Software Updates

Eagle Browser may periodically check for available updates. During update checks:

  • Your current version number may be transmitted (to determine if an update is available)
  • We do NOT track your device information, IP address, or usage patterns
  • Update downloads are manual (you control when to download and install)

In the future, we may implement automatic update functionality, but we will not collect personal data as part of the update process.
